Welcome to Dell Rapids Elementary School!

I'm so excited to kick off another fantastic year at DRES! As the elementary  principal, I feel incredibly fortunate to work with such a dedicated, professional, and caring staff—and just as fortunate to partner with our amazing students and their families. Together, we strive to create a safe and positive learning environment where every child, from early childhood through fourth grade, can thrive.

At DRES, we believe in supporting every learner through high-quality instruction while fostering a culture of respect, kindness, and inclusion. Our mission, “Empowering Each Other to Excel,” guides everything we do.

Throughout the year, we focus on three key pillars that shape our school culture: Be Safe – Keep Learning – Have Fun! Each component plays an important role in helping our students feel confident, supported, and excited about school. Whether students are in the classroom, at lunch or recess, or just walking through the halls, we want every part of their day to feel meaningful and safe.

We’re also excited to continue two of our favorite programs — Quarrier Kids of Character and You Rock.

• Quarrier Kids of Character recognizes students each quarter who show positive character traits that help them succeed both in and out of the classroom.

• With our You Rock program, any staff member can recognize a student who shows qualities that make up the word QUARRIER—Quality, Uplifting, Accepting, Respectful, Reliable, Inspirational, Encouraging, Responsible, and Supportive.

These programs are just a couple of ways we celebrate the awesome things our students do every day.

As a parent or guardian, you play a huge role in your child’s education, and we truly value your partnership. We encourage you to stay connected by communicating regularly with your child’s teacher, helping with homework, and reading together at home. When we work as a team, we can help every student develop a lifelong love of learning.
